The redevelopment project of the former Caserma Pepe barracks on the Venice Lido has been mentioned by Nii Progetti, a journalistic Italian publication specialising in monitoring tenders and construction sites in Italy, which highlights the innovative solutions adopted.
After more than twenty years of abandonment, the sixteenth-century complex will be restored and converted into a student residence thanks to ministerial funding of more than 26 million euro. The project includes 207 beds in mini-apartments, as well as common areas, study areas, catering, spaces for cultural activities and services.
Incide was in charge of the final structural design, project management, safety, fire prevention and plant design.
The redevelopment, in fact, is not limited to architectural restoration, but aims at high energy efficiency and accessibility, bringing the building to Class A3, with a jump of six levels compared to the current situation. In addition, the project includes structural consolidation and plant upgrades.
The design was developed with BIM methodology, which allowed an integrated approach for the management of structures, installations and fire safety. Thanks to Building Information Modeling, it was possible to optimise the consolidation works on foundations, masonry, vaults, floors and roofs, improving the accuracy and sustainability of the intervention.
