Why is it increasingly important to expand the BIM culture? Margherita Roverato, BIM Manager at Incide, explained this in an interview with BIM Portale, the Italian reference point on Building Information Modeling.

The adoption of BIM, which Incide has been using for over 15 years, is becoming increasingly crucial for complex, digitised projects because it is emblematic of an industry that is moving towards more efficient processes. However, this also entails challenges related to managing the increasing complexity of data and workflows, which is why it is crucial to turn to those who have developed expertise and experience in the field. To meet these requirements, Incide focuses on maximum data interoperability, ensuring efficient processes without loss of information and continuously updating standards.

After the airports in Rome and Milan, the most relevant projects currently underway for Incide, such as the new HQ of Arcelor Mittal in Luxembourg and the renovation of Building E of the Palais des Nations in Geneva, testify to the concrete application of BIM in prestigious international projects. The challenge is to address issues such as computation, coding, parameterisation, and structural and plant design calculations, while maintaining an overall vision that guarantees the continuous improvement of the project.

Italy, moreover, is among the leaders in the regulation and development of BIM, and the next challenges will concern standardisation and the integration of new technologies, such as artificial intelligence, which will further expand the possibilities of using design data.
